Hmm, well...nothing exciting going on, except for one little wonderful discovery that we made yesterday...more on that later. ;) Anyway, we are still recovering from the SNOWMAGEDDON 2011!!! Yes, we had a blizzard Tues, Feb. 1, and it has set us back nearly a week. We got a record 14" of snow!!! It has been so wonderful to be snowed in with the family. We would have liked to go somewhere, but since we aren't equipped to drive in blizzard conditions or their after-effects, we just stayed home. So on Friday, the maintenance man from the clinic gave me and 2 other girls a ride to work, only for the clinic to close at noon. Fine with me! I actually started getting sick on Thurs, but I doped up for the morning Fri and then Patty was nice enough to take me to the Dr. that afternoon in her 4WD. So sweet! Especially since she could have spent a few extra hours with her family. She is a giver like that, and I am very appreciative. It's good I was able to get antibiotics, because even with them, I felt TERRIBLE all weekend! I'm starting to feel better today (Monday), but I still didn't go to work. My parents brought us Arby's and chili on Saturday--so awesome!!!! Then they took the kids for the night!!! Even more awesome!!!!! We were able to get a lot of rest thanks to them. Here are some pics:
Well, since the last post, let's see...CHRISTMAS! It was great! Of course, the materialism gets me every year, but I try not to be a scrooge and do my part. What I really want to do is start a tradition of serving every year, say in a soup kitchen or food bank or something of the sort. But of course I haven't done it. I really want to start early so that my kids can grow up doing it, but here Micah is, 4 years old, and nothing yet. I will, though, dadblast it, I will. And soon. We got to see Jake's cousins, one of which lives in New York, one in Germany, and the other in OKC but whom we never see unless they are all together. :) So that was pretty wonderful. New Year's Eve was good also, we had dinner with friends.
I started the 'Daniel Fast' on January 3rd. It's basically a vegan diet, and no added sugar, chemicals, preservatives, etc. And only water to drink. It's hard, but not too bad. I say that, but I have broken my fast 2 times in the last 2 days. I only have one week left; I should try harder. But I have been doing pretty well getting up early to read my bible, even though my prayer life is distracted. I need to focus more on my prayers, I think.
Anyway, I'm really struggling with my job. I love it, but there are SO MANY annoyances about it. Nothing worth quitting over, but since I want to work part time, I have been getting super annoyed. I talked to Dr. Harrison (Chief Dental Officer of Creek Nation) and I may have the option of working in Eufala (only) 2-3 days a week. Of course, if I do that, I'll lose all my benefits. That's pretty scary, but worth it, in my opinion. I did tell him, too, that I would rather just work 3 days a week in Sapulpa, but I thought it wasn't an option. He said it may be possible, if I could talk Dr. Longmire and Cynthia (HSA) into it. So there is hope. I also spoke to our daycare to make sure that they don't do part time. Well the owner (?) surprised me and said she probably can do that for us, since she is facing some different circumstances coming up! I'm getting my hopes up, but I'm nervous too. So conflicted. What is best for my family? To spend more time with my kiddoes or provide them with health insurance, etc?? I just don't know.
